Recent News

August 16, 2006 - We pick four terrific bloggers - two men and two women. Our original plan was to only have three this year, but the quality of writing was so strong we had to add a fourth.

August 15, 2006 - Season 4 auditions close. We have just under 300 auditions, and surprisingly, a third of them are from men.

August 1, 2006 - We took a long break from giving you updates to focus on the terrific blogs and on adding special features to the site.

February 1, 2006 - All cast members now have their Telestial satellite phones, as well as 1,000 free minutes. We expect their parents to chip in and send us flowers and chocolates for saving them so much money.

January 20, 2006 - Stacy Pagnano and Brian Freedman record the first-ever "StrudyAbroad Live!" It takes approximately one hour to get through the two-page script. Office-giggles, it turns out, are contagious. And also a little bit annoying. We take a blood-oath never to release the outtakes, which are neither intelligent nor terribly sophisticated. Ron Burgundy has nothing to fear.

January 30, 2006 - Thanks to Taylor, BlogAbroad.com fans all over the world discover that the remote-controlled toilets of Tokyo are just a wee bit scary.

January 18, 2006 - The first blogs of Season 3 are posted.

January 16, 2006 - Gunnar Larson, our BlogAbroad.com foreign correspondent, files his first AudioBlog. He is now on the first leg of his latest trip, which will take him to Cyprus, Egypt, Italty, England, and most other places that can be found on what travel experts call "the map."

January 13, 2006 - A joyous day. We finalize the list for Season 3 and begin contacting the future cast members. Their excitement on the phone makes all of the arguments, temper tantrums, hours at the gym, and thumb-wrestling matches worth it.

January 3, 2006 - After a month of solitary work and off-the-record lobbing, the BlogAbroad.com selection team books the conference room for a three-hour Final 4 selection slugfest. By the end of the day, we have narrowed down the list of nearly 200 applicants to a final group of 5. We each take a blood-oath to never reveal the names of the finalists. Ever, no matter what they threaten. Even Jack Bauer couldn't get it out of us. Okay, maybe he could, but no one else.

December 1, 2005 - As auditions start pouring into our inboxes, the individual members of the BlogAbroad.com selection team begin reading...and reading...and reading.

November 30, 2005 - Planning for Season 3 of BlogAbroad.com begins. Everyone in the BA offices, it turns out, has an opinion, and many of us join local gyms in order to have a better chance of getting our ideas accepted by everyone else. There is much complaining of soreness for the next week, until we simply give up exercise and retreat to our comfy little cubicles.

Tuesday, October 25, 2005 - Jon was voted the number one blog for the day by his peers.

Friday, October 7, 2005 - Nessie had dinner with Archbishop Desmond Tutu and his wife.

Thursday, October 6, 2005 - Change of course: Nessie's Semester at Sea ship is no longer going to Kenya because a civil war has escalated there.

Wednesday, September 29, 2005 - We've had some great entries from our bloggers lately. Amy posted pictures today, Jon went to a barbeque, and Nessie was inducted for passing over the Equator. You won't believe what that involved!

Almost as exciting is that Volume 2 of our BlogAbroad.com Express Newsletter is chugging along for your reading pleasure. Check it out!

Wednesday, September 14, 2005 - All four bloggers blogged today. Plus, as a special treat, Emma, one of our star bloggers from last season, blogged about becoming reacquainted with American life after living in Africa for so long.
